Women urged to work with water wisely

Member of the Mayoral Committee for Energy, Water and Sanitation, Cllr Tiisetso Nketle has called on female church leaders across City of Ekurhuleni to preach the gospel of water conversation. Speaking in Alberton today, February 21 at the Women in Faith Base Organisation Water Conservation Day, Cllr Nketle said women ought to use their role in churches to educate their congregations about water conservation to prevent scarcity of this precious resource.

“We need to be water conservation ambassadors even at church. From time to time when we pray for rain, we need to remember to teach worshipers how to use water wisely,” she said. The MMC told church leaders not to ignore water leaks at their churches and report them in the same manner they would for their own homes.

Faith Based Organisations are encouraged to contact Kananelo Monne in the MMC’s office on email: Kananelo.Monne@ekurhuleni.gov.za should they wish the city’s officials to visit their place of worship to educate congregants about water scarcity and the importance of conserving water.
