A white Toyota LDV was stolen in the early hours of Tuesday, 20 February in Pretoria. The EMPD Public Order Policing Unit members picked up the signal around midday which pointed to the vehicle movement being in the Germiston area.

Via GPS tracking coordinates, the metro police was able to locate the vehicle on Umbombo Street at Rondebult in the Germiston area. The vehicle was found abandoned with the dashboard badly stripped and fitted with false number plates. A jammer - a gadget used to avoid detection by the tracking system - was found in a bag inside the recovered Toyota.

Forensics were summoned to the scene to lift fingerprints and later the vehicle was towed to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep pound in Benoni for further investigations and safe-keeping. The 12-fin jammer was booked in at Elsburg police station.
