Ward 64 kicked off the month with a soccer tournament at Vosloorus Extension 28 with intent to collect 50 school bags for pupils. The event being the first of its kind was declared a success by organisers. It was a top 16 kasi to kasi knockout tournament consisting of teams both young and old. Teams were from parts of Peter Mokaba, Leondale, Phumula, Sunrise and Tzamahatsi. Each participant from this tournament then had to donate a school bag in turn to help disadvantaged pupils from local school around Vosloorus. The games that got enthusiastic elders as old as 50 years sweating were declared a success as several stakeholders played their role. Stakeholders included Senza Okuhle, Councillor of ward 64 and Hollywood bets which assisted in giving winners of the day incentives.

Siyabonga Mthembu, from ward 64 committee commended the support from participants. I appreciate the support from members of the community in helping needy learners, he said. Councillor of Ward 64, Lina Mkhize encouraged members of the community to partake in such life changing events. I thank the Senza Okuhle team for their selfless deed. People should continue to show support in changing lives. These tournaments are ideal as participants are not restricted from taking part, from age or locations, she concluded.
