We are living in a time that is so fast paced, everything in and around us is determined by time whether we notice it or not. Busy schedules hold more preference than a personís well-being. Before we know it we are part of a statistic that falls under those suffering from illnesses that could have been prevented had we taken the time off from our busy schedules and checked our health as required or advised by doctors. There is no price on health and until we understand that as human beings then our neglect for our health will continue. Ignorance has the power to nullify all human reasoning, especially when given a chance.

Mary Mkhabela was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2014, ever since her diagnosis life has not been the same. "There is one thing that the body can do, and that is to communicate when something is wrong" said Mary. By the time a person is diagnosed with type 2 diabetes they've probably been living with it for a number of years without them knowing about it. The only thing that drove Mary to finally go and have her health checked out was when she honored her regular checkup routines for her pregnancy. It was during those regular doctor's visitations that Mary was diagnosed with diabetes. She had to face the reality of knowing that her health was in jeopardy.

Type 2 diabetes can be best described as ďa long term disorder that is characterized by high blood sugar, insulin resistance, and a relative lack of insulin. It occurs as a lack of exercise and obesity ". However like anything that is detected earlier it is manageable with early detection and a drastic change to one's lifestyle. ďI have started to embrace a more healthy and active lifestyle. I had to make a serious decision to do things right for me in order to live long enough to see my children grow" said Mary. She does admit that since she changed her lifestyle she has seen a great level of improvement in her health. While we are caught up in our busy lives we ought to remind ourselves daily that without our health our efforts of leading a busy life becomes futile. Health is wealth to those who embrace its value.
