On Monday 2022-03-28, accused Sibusiso Nkosi aged 32, was found guilty of an attempted murder case as per Daveyton case. The accused has been sentenced to 14 years of direct imprisonment at the Benoni regional court.
The complainant Tshepo Pongosi who resides in Daveyton, was assisted to open a case of assault with an intention to cause grievous bodily harm(GBH) on Monday 2021-01-18 at Daveyton police station.
The docket was then allocated to Sergeant Sello Makafane who is attached to the Detective branch in Daveyton.
Detective Sergeant Makafane with his undying passion for his work and to see justice prevail, investigated the case thoroughly by locating witnesses and requesting the Complainant’s medical file at The Far East Rand Hospital. After submitting more evidence to the court, an escalation of the charge was done thus turning Assault GBH into Attempted murder due to injuries sustained by the complainant, Tshepo Pongosi. The doctor who attended to the complainant was served with a subpoena to come testify.
The Acting Station Commander, Lt Colonel Bronkorst mentioned that Detective Sergeant Makafane has been a beacon of hope to the community of Daveyton with his dedication to his work, further giving the community of Daveyton hope in fighting and winning against crime.
