Lungelo Mbotho is the founder and director of ‘Impendulo Yezwe’ Art Group in Kwanele Katlehong.
Mbotho established his production group in July 2021 and has since discovered immaculate talent from his students. “The reason I decided to use my funds and open Impendulo Yezwe Art Group is to groom, unite and educate the youth of South Africa utilising art,” Lungelo shared with Ekurhuleni News.
On Saturday the 4th of September ‘Impendulo Yezwe’ Art Group held a fundraiser and talent show, which was successful. The community of Katlehong showed their support for the group by attending the show. The artists in ‘Impendulo Yezwe’ have not yet had their breakthroughs in their respective fields. Lungelo reckons that his students will get more recognition as they have been invited to the UGU film festival from 23-25 September, in KwaZulu-Natal. “This is excellent for the group as a whole because they will showcase their talents alongside international and local stars,” Mbotho joyfully expressed.
‘Impendulo Yezwe’ needs a sponsorship that will assist with uniforms, equipment, a rehearsal space, and funding. Mbotho’s support system to keep ‘Impendulo Yezwe’ operating like a well-oiled machine comes from his team and the parents of the children that are part of the group. ‘Impendulo Yezwe’ is in the quest to expand its mentees, if you are interested you can contact 0608563630, or check their Facebook page @ Impendulo Yezwe or Email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
