A 60 million rand State-Of-The-Art fire station was unveiled by the City of Ekurhuleni’s first citizen (Executive Mayor) Mzwandile Masina. It is stationed at Cnr Highveld and Bosch Street in Kempton Park.
The new fire station is armed with four fire engines which are as follows: 1 Water Tanker Truck(carrying 11000 litres of water),2 Major Pumper Trucks(carrying 3500 litres of water each) and a Grass Unit Bakkie.
The precinct consists of a gyminism, storerooms, water-bay,NKitchen,machine bay, oxygen room, offices and a reception area.
The Executive Mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni, Cllr Mzwandile Masina outlined saying: “Fire stations are very important, so as the clinics, police precincts because they all play a pivotal role in protecting and serving our people, we have built this fire station because there are a lot of developments that have occurred in the north, requiring services, we have built a lot of clinics, police precincts and we have built this one we are launching today, we must continue to improve our infrastructure wherever we are.
“This has been guided by the developments that are taking place in this are, as I said before they are factories that are coming up along the R21 road, so if the factories are burning up, what should we do as the metro, so we have to be able to respond as the government, so that’s why we decided to build this fire station.
“We have spent 60 million rand for this fire station, it was well spent without any corruption,” uttered the mayor of Ekurhuleni.
