A 9-Year-Old Athlete Wins 1st Place

Ekurhuleni young athlete did it again with a number one spot. Dineo Nzuza, a 9-year-old from Daveyton, won the Thembisa Mile 2025 in the Girls Under 10 category which was held on the October 26, 2025.

Last year Dineo participated in the same competiton and she finished in 10th position, but this year she took 1st place in the same race at the same place. Her hard work and dedication paid off.

Dineo practices every day, including weekends. She takes part in track and field events, cross country events and street miles.

This was her third time running the Thembisa Mile. She started participating in the race at the age of 9, and she was very happy to win this year.

Her mother, Phindi Nzuza, shared her excitement “As a mother I’m so happy for her and looking forward to support her every day and every time.”

Dineo’s main goal now is to work even harder, listen to her coach and win the race again next year.
