On Thursday the 1st of June 2023, Thulz Premium Barbershop officially launched its collaboration with Smiling 23 Boutique Liquor at Monise Section, Katlehong.
Thulz Premium Barbershop, owned by Thulane Sicongwana entered into a collaboration with smiling tree 23 to offer its customers premium, different and convenient service.
They hosted a grooming event where they pampered local DJs with luxury treatment, including facials, manicures, and pedicures. The idea behind this collaboration is to create a positive and convenient environment that also fosters a good working environment amongst black-owned businesses.
Local DJs, local entrepreneurs, and other special guests. attended the event, socializing and pursuing the purpose of the day, which was finding ways to grow and work together as black businesses.
Sicongwana stated that he aims to bring unity and growth amongst local businesses and to also find ways to grow their communities as they also work with a variety of charities and organisations.
“When I opened my first barber in October last year, I wanted to bring quality and convenient barber treatment within our communities but also bring change in our community”, said Sicongwana.
“Our second barber was opened on a space which was officially deemed a drug den, we turned it into a chilled space where people can get their hair cut and facials while holding conversations and having their favourite beverage. We have also created job opportunities for young people”, he added.
When Ekurhuleni News asked how a liquor store and barbershop will work together, he said: “We want to offer luxury treatment to our customers, by allowing them to order their favourite beverage on the Smiling Tree website and have it delivered at the comfort of the Barbershop, while enjoying the services offered by the barbershop”.
Sicongwana wants to grow the black economy and bring employment opportunities within his community. He also continues with his charity drives, working with various businesses to promote education and working with old age homes.
