Windmill Park, 22 October 2025 – On a crisp October day, the streets of Holomisa witnessed a powerful act of community kindness as Bianca Zambetti and Gabisile Mpangase served up more than just a meal—they served hope, dignity, and a reminder that no one is forgotten.
The dynamic duo, known for their unwavering commitment to the community, organised a soup kitchen that provided a nourishing and hearty meal to 250+ individuals and families who are struggling. For many attendees, it was the first warm, home-cooked meal they had enjoyed in a long time.
Bianca Zambetti of Rural Safety and Gabisile “Gabby” Mpangase of the Mapleton Ext 10 Methodist Church have consistently stepped up where they see a need. Their latest initiative saw them taking to the streets, not with grand gestures, but with pots filled with a delicious chicken vegetable soup, served alongside fresh cabbage and rice.
The impact was palpable. One of the attendees, visibly moved by the simple act of care, commented, “I haven’t had a chicken veg soup, cabbage and rice in a while.” This sentiment echoed the feeling of many, for whom the meal was a rare and much-needed comfort.
“This isn’t just about feeding people,” explained Bianca Zambetti. “It’s about showing our community that we see them, we care about them, and they matter. A warm meal can restore a sense of normalcy and warmth.”
Gabisile Mpangase added, “Our faith calls us to serve. When we see a need in Holomisa, in Windmill Park, or anywhere around us, we must act. The joy on people’s faces today is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together.”
The success of the soup kitchen has sparked conversations about further community outreach programs. The efforts of Bianca and Gabby prove that the most profound changes often start with a single, compassionate act—and a hot meal made with love.
