A programme envisaged to empower women

Emely Nakana who was luckily selected to be part of an apprenticeship reality show that vitally focused on empowering women in all spheres of life, seeks to impart the fundamental skills she acquired to young girls in her neighbourhood in Vosloorus (Mailula Park).

So through her organisation called Mel Innovations International, she’s going to kick-start a women empowering programme called “Where to from here” next month(in May), it will pave her passionate desire to impart her knowledge and skills to youthful women around her area.

She relayed to the people’s favourite local newspaper, saying, “I was selected to be part of an apprenticeship reality show called ‘Apprentesses with Ster status’ which premiered on DStv channel 147, it was a programme that focused on developing and upskilling women, so with my pre-planned programme I want to do a similar thing for my community.

“Because I see a lot of things that are affecting young women in our community, there was this other day when I went to the SASSA centre in Vosloorus, and i discovered that most young girls are beneficiaries of the SASSA child support grant, so I want to change that norm, “ Nakana divulged.

She continued expressing herself, stating that, “My programme ‘Where to from here’ is accepting women from the age of 18-28, it will empower and provide skills development resources for them, while encouraging them to embark on their entrepreneurial path.

I plan to host the programme for nine (9) weeks and it will equip women with essential necessities that will transform their lives, which are life skills, career choices and entrepreneurial skills.“I want to form a sisterhood group within the programme where we will motivate and inspire each other as women, my programme will be educational, uplifting and empowering to women because I have invited creatives to come and share their knowledge and skills,” she clarified.

The programme will be graced by the “Who and What holdings”(owned by Clement Mothwa), Tshepo one million, David Kandrod(an acting coach) and Sniper a photographer who also owns a clothing line.

As the program is pre-planned to kick off in May, all people who are interested in participating in the programme can call Koditswe Mokone on: 073 840 4794 or Emley Nakana on: 063 203 0311.
