Reneilwe Sebati (23) from Tsakane Ext 15, who is currently pursuing a Marketing qualification, has opened a hot-drink stall.
Sebati explained to Ekurhuleni News, saying, “I’m someone who has always loved business, I used to sell cements and summer hats, now I have ventured into a Coffee and tea business. I’ve only started this business recently. The idea of selling coffee and tea has always lingered in my mind for a very long time; therefore I decided to act upon the idea and actually make it a reality.
“I told my parents about the idea and they supported me from the get go. They then decided to give me capital to start the business. As we are in the winter season I thought to myself, what is that one thing that is needed that sells like pancakes but is also kind of a need to most people during this season and I remembered how I enjoy my coffee during winter, and that’s where the idea of selling coffee and tea stems from. Everyone wants to keep warm in this extremely cold weather, so I thought to myself again why not just sell these two, coffee and tea, to the elderly and to the people at large, so that they may also feel warmed up, whilst they are in the queue waiting to get inside the office.”
The Idiom in Sepedi that says, “A gona kgomo ya boroko” has kept Sebati going forward as it means “keep pushing and stay focus to your goals and dreams”. Sebati also plans to expand it to the elderly in other parts of Tsakane. “I would like to give thanks to the people of Tsakane for the support they have given me since I started. Selling coffee and tea has had a positive impact to the people around the area. I am saying this because most of my customers especially the elderly tell me that I made the right choice by selling them coffee and tea, because they used to feel very cold when they queued to enter inside the office. They are saying I’m helping them to feel warm and comfortable in this cold weather,” Sebati concluded.
