AfriForum’s neighbourhood watches together with the local SAPS carried out a special operation.
This operation included roadblocks throughout the town. The roadblock that was specifically held at Atlas Road bore fruit because two unlicensed firearms, ammunition for various firearms and dagga were confiscated.
“It is huge successes like these that protect communities and strengthen the relationships between safety structures in communities,” says Dewet Ungerer, AfriForum’s District Coordinator for the East Rand.
Ungerer adds that AfriForum is grateful to work together with the SAPS and other security companies to protect the communities. “It has become very clear again in the last few weeks that neighbourhood watches and other safety structures within the community are of critical importance to assist the authorities when communities are in danger,” concludes Ungerer.
AfriForum’s Boksburg neighbourhood watch will also take part in these types of operations more frequently in the future to put a stop to crime.
