Amandla Amasha Senior Citizens’ is the brainchild of Mandla Kayise, a Spruitview resident who is thrilled to help the elders in his community.
After a tragedy that had befallen the Moabelo family where an 11-year-old girl lost her mother early this year and now she is left with her grandmother, the Amandla Amasha Senior Citizen organisation took it upon themselves to adopt the family and be of assistance to the young girl throughout her schooling life.
“After seeing how the mother died, it was a very sad Incident and no child should go through the pain and the loss of a mother. We pledged to be of help as the organization and assist her in any way possible, hence we would like to be assisted with clothing, school items or anything that can be of help to a young learner,” Mandla Kayise said.
With his love for lending a helping hand to the elderly, it was in his heart to assist the family, help the grandmother of the girl, and ease the burden.
“It has been my wish to take part in any project that strives to help the elderly, I have always pledged that if I can win a ‘lotto’, the people to enjoy my money will be our senior citizens, however realizing that the dream is taking its time, I said to myself I will offer them myself by opening a gym that will give free lessons.”
“Because as a sports fanatic, I know the benefits of staying healthy and active. I am approaching full three years with some of them,” he said.
With the good work that Mandla Kayise is doing for his community, every day he receives new members who wish to be part of his initiative (Gym).
“I get new members every day, the number is nearing 200. I am now even running out of space,” he added.
Anyone who wishes to help can contact Mandla Kayise at 0634412121 or visit the Spruitview library between Tuesday and Thursday.
