On Friday 25 April 2025 at 07:06 in Boksburg area, a male pedestrian in his late 30’s, died after he was knocked over by a heavy motor vehicle, on Main reef road between Rondebult and Field. It is not clear at this stage what actually happened before the crash and a case of culpable homicide has been registered, at the Boksburg police station, for detectives to investigate further.
According to the witnesses, who was his friends and colleague, this man was trying to avoid water and potholes on the road and failed to see a coming truck which tried to serve away from him no luck either. The poor man perished on the scene.
Residents and motorists have been asking the councillor of ward 33, Ashley Hood, to fix the road for ages but nothing has been done. It took forever for police and emergency personnel to reach the scene because main reef road does not have adjacent street to it next to the hotel.
It was difficult to get the dead man’s personnel details because his foreign friends were going to be asked for passports and end up in jail for being helpful.
Metro police spokesperson, Kobedi Mokheseng, confirmed the accident and said a case of homicide has been opened at Boksburg police station for further investigation.
