The ANC Regional Task Team (RTT) in Ekurhuleni is saddened by the inhuman killing of the crime fighter Mandla Nkambule who dedicated his entire life to combating crime in the community.
“Nkambule was gunned down in Katlehong Ext-6 on Wednesday, September 4.
“Nkambule was previously employed for 20 years in the South African Police Service, Flying Squad Unit before the formatting of his private security company called Umbrella.
“Nkambule also played a critical role in the formation of the Crime Fighting Units like Yizo Yizo, Thathazonke in Ekurhuleni and even beyond our region,” said RTT Coordinator Cde Jongizizwe Dlabathi.
He added that they strongly believe that Nkambule has left a strong foundation in fighting crime through organised formations.
“Organised Units such as these assist a great deal in fighting crime in our community and we further call for continuous joint and collaborative work with the government law enforcement in the fight against crime in Ekurhuleni.
“Like many, the ANC in Ekurhuleni and the community of Ekurhuleni are left devasted because Nkambule had brought hope that crime will finally be defeated, especially around Katlehong and surrounding areas.
“Sadly, following the news of Nkambule’s passing, his only surviving sister also succumbed to death after she collapsed. It is suspected that it was due to post-traumatic stress.
“The ANC Ekurhuleni wishes to send the words of comfort and condolences to the Nkambule family, friends, and colleagues in the crime-fighting space,” he said.
On Tuesday, September 10, the Office Bearers of the ANC Ekurhuleni visited the Nkambule family to pay homage.
Additionally, the ANC in Ekurhuleni calls for calm and pleads with the community to allow the law-enforcement agencies to deal with the matter and bring to book those who are responsible for such barbaric acts and face the mighty of the law.
