Ekurhuleni grieves the passing of a three-year-old

City of Ekurhuleni have send its sincere deepest condolence to the family of Gwam after losing one of their own on Sunday in katlehong. Through the office of MMC Community Safety Department, Councilor Vivian Chauke, the city has pleaded with the community to be calm following the tragic incident and allow the laws to take its course.

Ekurhuleni Municipality would like to thank the office of the MEC of Health in Gauteng Province Gwen Ramokgopa together with MMC Dorah Mlambo for their instantaneous involvement in the matter. Both offices have visited the Gwam family, the Clinic and fire station to find out as to what could have led to this tragedy.

Both the MEC and the MMC has officiated the professionals to investigate the matter so as corrective action can be taken in addressing the matter. The city views this matter seriously and working with law enforcement in unravelling it. The ward councilor under which the Gwam family falls under in Daveyton and other municipal officials are constantly visiting and engaging with the family, assisting them with all relevant logistics building towards decent funeral of the little girl.

For the injured paramedic and Mrs. Gwam, we wish them good health and speedy recovery because of this unforeseen tragic incident. During this time of activism against gender base violence and new year celebrations, the city would like to urge everyone to calm down and allow the law to take its course.
