Two suspects arrested in Tembisa for Hijacking

The EMPD Community Liaison Unit and SAPS investigations that were initiated in November 2016 following a hijacking in Centurion of a BMW1 Series bore fruit when on Tuesday, 13 February, the EMPD CLU members effected arrest of two suspects found in the possession of the hijacked vehicle.

The vehicle was hijacked by three armed males from the owner. Armed with concrete leads, the EMPD CLU members tracked down the suspects to Winnie Mandela 2 in Tembisa where the vehicle was also recovered. The hunt is on for the third suspect.

The arrested pair, aged 35 and 49, was apprehended and detained at Tembisa police station as per Cas.464/10/2016 of Wierdabrug SAPS. They were expected to appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday. The recovered BMW was towed to SAPS Van Ryn pound in Benoni for further investigations and safe-keeping.
