Ekurhuleni Mayor signed a settlement agreement with complainant Michael Biribauer

The South African Human Rights Commission has enabled mediation between the Cllr Mzwandile Masina and Michael Biribauer the alleged complainant of hate speech by Masina. The resolved matter led to the signing of a disclosing settlement agreement on April 6 in Brakpan at Ekurhuleni Brakpan City Hall.

“After the signing of the agreement, Masina said, “As revolutionaries, when we get a platform, we must speak against the things that divides the nation at all times. We are speaking and reflecting about the ills of our society, we are recommitting to working together, both black and white to say not in our name,” said Masina.

“We are excited about the agreement because it shows we can all work together through any challenge. I appreciate what the Human Rights Commission and what the Siyaqhuba team has facilitated to this point to ensure the mediation,” said Biribauer.
