Against all odds, a revolution to restore hope in the youth of our community has art and film production hosted another impactful event titled Art and Media Street Market. It occurred on the 26th of February 2022 at Small Bridge shisanyama and pub.
Besides the success of their Street Radio episodes, they are driven to bring change that will better the future of the youth and the growth of the economy as a community.
“This event was inspired by our desire to promote local brands and create a flea market for them to showcase their brands,” said Jeffrey Raphaka, director of the organisation.
The setup of the stage had the look and feel of a flea market with a twist of a concert. Clothes designed by Loyiso Mathebula and T-shirts from the NGULUBE brand festooned the event. A meritorious audience amplified the intensity of the performances and entertainment from the local artists.
“Being allowed to perform at such events is motivational and part of giving back to the community. It also helps us as artists to unmask the talent we have,” exclaimed Black Jesus, one of the musicians who performed that evening.
The purpose of the event was perfectly fulfilled, for the brands managed to entice the audience by showing them that locally made products have the potential and quality of international brands.
“We are grateful to be part of this event. People got to see our products and are interested in buying them, all thanks to this event,” said DJ Ngulube, the founder of the NGULUBE brand.
Phaphama arts and film production plan to collaborate with many other brands in and around the Ekurhuleni municipality. They also hope to join hands with the local government and other stakeholders related to youth development programmes.
