By Sbongile Sokela

On 14 January 2026, Bacha Ba Dichaba hosted a Social Entrepreneurship Training programme in partnership with the South African Association of Youth Clubs (SAAYC) at the Tshepo Themba Multipurpose Centre. The training formed part of the National Youth Service (NYS) Programme, which commenced in September 2025.

The program saw a significant turnout of participants from Bacha Ba Dichaba, showcasing the organization’s growing presence and commitment to youth development. The training brought together young people from diverse communities, regions, and provinces, providing a unique opportunity for networking and skill-sharing.

Duduzile Mlauza, Team Leader of Bacha Ba Dichaba NYS Participants, expressed gratitude to SAAYC and NYS for the opportunity, highlighting the experience of working with 30 young people from different backgrounds. “It was a great experience that required passion and leadership skills,” Mlauza noted.

The training aimed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to become social entrepreneurs, addressing the needs of their communities and contributing to the country’s economic growth.

Bacha Ba Dichaba extends its appreciation to SAAYC, NYS, and its stakeholders for their support and collaboration. The organization hopes that the program will continue, providing opportunities for more young people who are not working or lack access to university spaces.

The completion of this training marks a significant milestone for Bacha Ba Dichaba, demonstrating its commitment to empowering young people and fostering social entrepreneurship in South Africa.
