BENONI – On Wednesday, 31 January 2024, at 17:30, officers from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct intercepted a 36-year-old male suspect and recovered the missing white Toyota Yaris in the Petit area.
During the afternoon shift, EMPD officers acted on information from a reliable source regarding a reported stolen vehicle. The stolen Toyota Yaris sedan, matching the provided description, was located at the corner of Birch and Jarrah in the Petit suburb. One occupant was behind the steering wheel. The officers tactically approached, cornered the suspect, and conducted a test on the suspicious vehicle, confirming it was stolen in the Brakpan area. The 36-year-old suspect, facing charges of ‘possession of a stolen motor vehicle,’ was promptly handcuffed and taken to the Crystal Park Police Station.

Later that evening, around 20:30 at the same location, EMPD officers on their regular duties were informed by fellow law enforcers that they were bringing in a 28-year-old male suspect to the nearest police station. This suspect was driving a silver Hyundai i20 and was involved in a crime in the Benoni area. The wrongdoers are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon, and both vehicles have been booked at the Aeroton police yard for further investigations.
