BOKKIE PARK LIVESTOCK TEMPORARILY RELOCATED TO BUNNY PARK DUE TO WET WEATHER CONDITIONS

The recent heavy rain has overly saturated the soil at Bokkie Park in Boksburg, causing various health challenges for the livestock.

Bokkie Park in Boksburg, houses the city’s livestock and farm animals and it has been hardest hit by the issue of overly saturated soil, and as a result, the City resorted to relocate the sheep, goats and cows to Bunny Park for the remainder of the month of April and the whole of May 2022.

This is to prevent the animals from contracting hoof rot, a bacterial infection in the hoofs, associated with continuous wet conditions. The pigs and ostriches will stay at Bokkie Park, as they are less susceptible to hoof rot. Once the soil at the park is a bit drier, the relocated animals will be brought back.

However, patrons and animal lovers who wish to visit the livestock may do so by visiting the Bunny Park in Benoni, where they are temporarily kept.

The City apologises for the inconvenience this may cause.
