Acting on a tip off from concerned Benoni residents, the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit Members moved into a plot and a male suspect was arrested, after Officers uncovered packaged and ready to sell, joint. Yesterday (17 May) at 14h05 on Van Wyk road, a 57-year old was handcuffed where 78x ziplocks of marijuana valued at R2340, were confiscated. The suspect was marched to Benoni police station and charged with, possession and dealing in dagga. The detainee, is expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.

Two persons died and one other critically injured when four vehicles crashed on N12 freeway northbound near Elands interchange in the City of Ekurhuleni earlier this morning at around eleven o`clock.   City of Ekurhuleni Emergency services rescue team and paramedics received the call at 11H18 and swiftly responded to the scene for intervention.
