Cell phone Shop up in smoke

A cell phone shop went into smoke in Boksburg central business district on Monday evening the 16th of January 2023.

A private security officer drove into Boksburg central fire station to report a structural fire at the corner of Trichardts and Commissioner Streets, Boksburg Central Business District adjacent to the Civic Centre.

Firefighters responded promptly to the scene for intervention. Prior to arrival, backup had to be activated from Germiston and Wadeville fire stations respectively.

The primary responding crews found the shop well alight on arrival. Forcible entry had to be performed to gain access to the burning structure. On arrival of backup crews, more sustainable water supply was done attacking the blaze with two hose lines.

A fleet of four fire engines was used augmented by sixteen firefighters in total.

Challenges experienced on the scene were the shopkeepers who forced their way into the shop claiming to collect money from the safe for safety.

No casualties were recorded on site as a result of the fire.
