Creating job opportunities by selling flowers

Patrick Kganye well known as Pat (29) is a founder of Mo’ flora a company that sells flowers and packages gifts in Katlehong (Mpedi section). He later moved to Dikuye where his floristry business is currently based.

Before he started the floristry business he was selling biltong which was going well until COVID-19 affected it. That’s when he conceived the idea of selling flowers.

“The reason I started selling flowers was how lockdown affected me negatively with my biltong business. I used to supply my biltong to different events but due to Covid-19 I stopped and the business ended up falling apart. I then decided to introduce a fresh idea that will help me to generate income and had no better choice than to sell flowers,” uttered Pat.

They mostly specialise in roses but they do offer other ranges of banquets flowers for funerals, weddings, 21st birthday arrangements and more.

“We do mixed bouquets, lilies and tulips (2 lips) to name a few, but unfortunately most flowers are seasonal hence we specialise with roses since they are not seasonal,” adds Pat.

He has people working or rather helping him out with his business and that creates job opportunities in his neighbourhood and most people can put food on the table for their loved ones.

He concludes by saying running a flower business is not like any other retail business and he believes that anyone is cable of doing it; if he/she can put his/her mind to it.
