On November 3, the Daveyton Stand-Up organisation along with the Daveyton Community Development Forum held a shoe donation campaign for the community of Daveyton.
Nsizwa Mahlangu, chairperson of the Daveyton Stand-up charity organisation mentioned that they are a flexible organisation that dwells in the heart of the community.
Since its initiation in 2016, the organisation has been working towards their mission, restoring the dignity of the community.
“What we do is that we help the community. We go out and knock on doors looking for donations that will later help the community. We look for clothes, shoes, and food donations. Anything we get we come back and do these charity events,” said Mahlangu.
“All our efforts are to empower those who find it difficult to make ends meet, and we make efforts to put a smile on their face.”
Mahlangu said since we are approaching the festive season, it was laid in their hearts to assist where they can.
“We are grateful to Northmead Shoe City who enabled us to donate these shoes that we handed out today,” he added.
The beneficiaries were selected from each ward to cover the whole community of Daveyton.
“Since we have five wards we tried to communicate with the community members of those wards to help us to select the best candidates to lend a helping hand to.
The organisation is planning to have another closing charity event where they will be donating clothes in December. They humbly ask any willing volunteers to donate their unused or old clothing and assist.
“We would like to thank all the stakeholders who were involved in making this day a success, and all the artists who helped with entertaining the community,” he ended.
Excited Themba Mahlangu said that he is happy to have received the shoes and wishes that everyone can step in and assist the organisation for it to keep on helping the community.
