Mfundo Nkosi, also known as ‘Mfundo Da DJ’, a 30-year-old from Duduza shares the ups and downs of his career in Amapiano music. Now rubbing shoulders with Kabza Da Small, Young Stunna and other legendary giants in the music industry, Nkosi disclosed that his love for music kept him going, despite the hardships he faced.
His fondness for music started at a tender age of 8. “I used to listen to house music with my childhood friend, we call him ‘Budor H’. I can attest to you that music has been my first love and it lives in me. I faced a lot of rejection in my hometown, but my love and dedication for music saw me through. I have worked hard to get where I am, and I still do,” added Nkosi. He also mentioned he no longer is just Young Stunna’s personal DJ, but he is now a producer and an overall artist. Nkosi has travelled over 40 countries which include Mozambique, France, Poland, Dubai, Turkey, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA), Cypress, Ireland, Angola, Germany and Netherlands among other countries. He has performed for thousands of people in renowned international events like Afronation in Portugal, which accommodated more than one hundred thousand people who came from different parts of the world. He has also been part of the Spring Fiesta event which happens annually in Johannesburg, Boksburg.
Mfundo Da DJ has a song with music moguls like Young Stunna and Kabza Da Small titled ‘uNonkosi’, which went platinum and was loved by many. “I have worked with all my role models in the industry, especially in my country. It’s difficult to count them because they are quite a lot. However, Kabza made it possible for me,” added the star. Nkosi also declared that he is working on an EP of five songs which he plans to release next year in 2026. “Currently, I have dropped two beautiful singles titled ‘Ngiyabonga’ with Shino Kikai and ‘AmaPicanto’ with my boy Phalaza De DeeJay. My EP will feature the likes of Chley Nkosi and all the family,”. Nkosi further communicated that he is planning to host groove events in Duduza this coming summer.
The young man states how grateful he is for the opportunity and the support he gets from his supporters. “Safa iPiano. Ulova ukwazi ukuFeeder umndeni angabambanga nkunzi” -which translates to ‘a man can feed his family without committing any crime’. “This genre has healed so many wounds. It speaks about life and challenges we as people face. I remain appreciative of DJ Pro who taught me how to DJ. I encourage anyone who wants to grow and learn about this field to be passionate and never stop believing in their dreams. Trust the process. Hard work beats talent,” concluded the passionate artist.
