Diesel worth 7k recovered at Langaville clinic

On Thursday 25 May 2023 at about 22:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Anti-Cable Theft Task Team Officers in conjunction with Bidvest Security Services and Vodacom Risk Management Team, discovered abandoned diesel, in the Langaville.

While performing law enforcement duties, the Officers were approached by the Bidvest Security Services and Vodacom Risk Management Team, who requested assistance as they alleged that the diesel of their generator is always refilled but gets stolen after replacement. Allegedly, this has been an ongoing operation but no perpetrators had been apprehended.

Officers proceeded to an address identified by the security company on the corner of Phejane Street and Izilwane Street in Langaville. Upon arrival, Officers could smell the strong odour of diesel inside the clinic yard. As members proceeded to the back yard of the clinic next to the Vodacom Tower, and upon close inspection discovered nine (9) 25-litre containers full of diesel and seven (7) empty 25-litre containers. The recovered diesel was taken to Tsakane Police Station, for safekeeping pending further investigation.

The EMPD applauds the partnership with other stakeholders, who crack down on unlawful acts of this nature in the City of Ekurhuleni (CoE).
