Reach For A Dream in partnership with Disney launched its Dream Room campaign in Pholosong Hospital on November 13.
The space is designed to cater for children battling with life-threatening sickness.
Vibrant rooms were designed for young patients to experience joy, play, and comfort during their hospital stay.
The rooms are designed to help children heal emotionally and mentally during their period in the hospital.
Head of fundraising at Reach for a Dream Natalie Lazaris said that as the Reach for a Dream team, they believe that every child deserves moments of joy, especially during challenging times.
“Partnering with Disney Africa on the Disney Dream Room allows us to bring the magic of beloved stories to children in a way that lifts their spirits and nurtures hope.
“The rooms offer a sanctuary where they can find courage, comfort, and moments of blissful joy,” said Lazaris.
She mentioned that the rooms are colorful and have Disney characters on the walls. Offer creativity, educational activities, a play area, a sitting area, and a theatre room for entertainment.
“The room at Pholosong Hospital continues this legacy, creating a space that provides not only an escape but also the strength to face each day with renewed hope,” she added.
Dr Mkhulu Selepe spoke on behalf of the MEC of the Department of Health saying the partnership between the Gauteng Department of Health, Reach for a Dream, and The Walt Disney Company is a testament to the remarkable achievements that are made possible when the public and private sectors collaborate.
“These rooms are an example of what shared responsibility, dedication, and compassion can create.
“ Let us build a system that heals hearts, lifts spirits, and embraces the courage and dream we f every child who entered these rooms,” added Selepe.
Hospital acting CEO Hlomlile Mlahleki expressed her gratitude to their partners for making these rooms a reality within their hospital.
