DRILLING TEAM SEEKS ASSISTANCE

A drum and drilling team which is called ‘Sesfikile Drum Majorettes’ that was formed in 2013 in Phola Park (Thokoza) is pleading with any reliable donors to assist by donating full uniforms and instruments for the group. The team comprising of girls who are aged 9-14 years old needs white boots, white hats, white gloves and more drums. The ‘Sesfikile Drum Majorettes’ group was formed under a soccer team called Sesfikile FC from Phola Park in Thokoza led by Duduzile Mudau. However the soccer team only manages to buy dresses for the girls when it wins tournaments and luckily even the girls’ parents do assist by buying shoes, socks and caps to show support.

Duduzile Mudua the owner of both Sesfikile FC and Sesfikile Drum Majorettes shared, saying, “I appreciate all the positive support i get from their parents, we don’t only teach the girls about drums and drilling, but we also teach these girls on how to conduct themselves, how to respect themselves and their elders; we also encourage them to do their house chores and home works (their education is our first priority) before coming to practice and during exam times they don’t practice at all.

“The drum and drilling squad used to only perform when Sesfikile FC was playing, but they are now well known and they are getting invitations to perform at various soccer tournaments and different events such weddings, parties and big gatherings, so they need to dress up in full uniforms to keep on entertaining the masses; what we only request from the donors is just assistance, if they can just donate white boots, white hats, white gloves and more drums so we can reach our goals as a drum and drilling team,” Mudua pleads.
