In a bold move to fight crime, gender-based violence (GBV), and substance abuse, the City of Ekurhuleni has deployed 100 community marshals to work alongside residents from March 1 to June 30.
With crime rates remaining a major concern, the municipality launched this initiative not only to enhance safety but also to create jobs and attract investment into communities.
MMC for Community Safety, Sizakele Masuku, emphasized the importance of collaboration in tackling crime. “Through this programme, the city and residents will work together to root out crime and make their neighborhoods safe,” she said.
Masuku highlighted that crime is a societal issue requiring teamwork and innovative solutions. The city remains committed to exploring different strategies to combat lawlessness effectively.
