The City of Ekurhuleni supports the national initiative to plant one million trees in one day across the country, on 24 September 2025, under the theme ‘’My Tree, My Oxygen.

Plant Yours Today.’’ The city is set to plant 23 000 indigenous and fruit trees across the region to promote greener and more sustainable environment.

Tree delivery and collection operations are underway at the city’s nurseries, with preparations in full swing to ensure residents receive their trees in time for this major planting effort on Wednesday.

The initiative is part of the National Greening Programme to achieve, among others, the following:
• Combat desertification;
• Prevent soil erosion;

• Promote greener, more sustainable environment.

Residents are encouraged to collect trees from their nearest Parks depot to plant them in their yards and open spaces. By participating, you will contribute to a healthier environment for current and future generations.
