EMPD celebrates 20 years of selfless service

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department celebrated its 20 years of selfless service to the people of Ekurhuleni. This emotional yet heart-fulfilling celebration took place in the Emperor’s Palace. In celebrating this milestone, the EMPD in partnership with Emperors Palace and the Reach for a Dream Foundation hosted 20 children from the foundation.

The children had an opportunity to have a full experience with the EMPD. They dream of becoming police officers and serving the public.

Reach for a dream alleviate the strain that life-threatening illnesses place on sick children and their families by providing these dreamers with the opportunity to believe in their greatest wishes and dreams. The foundation aims to make a memorable difference in the life of a child fighting a life-threatening illness by making their dreams come true and inspiring hope.

The CEO of reach for a dream said, “This is our first outing after two years since lockdown and we are extremely happy for the little ones”.

The Honourable celebration was braced by Ald. Tania Campbell the Mayor of City Ekurhuleni, The MMC of Community and safety Mr. T. Moseki, Mr. Isaac Mapiyeye the Chief of police. The celebration was graced with the hostess who is a General Manager of Emperors Palace, Mr. Clive Tavener.

The Municipal police commissioner made a helicopter landing with Honorary Officer Mr. Naasir Chand.

In the Arrival of the children, Ald. Tania Campbell requested to have alone time with the children and said, “Outside being a mayor of Ekurhuleni, I am mother we should not just show compassion but be involved in the lives of these kids in our communities”.

Mr. Mapiyeye said he is deeply touched especially seeing smiles from the children. The chief of police further commits to serving Ekurhuleni and communities as a whole.

Ekurhuleni celebrates Police officers for consistently demonstrating a positive attitude and going above and beyond their normal assigned duties by selflessly supporting the mission of the departments through their professional contributions.
