Tsakane_ On Wednesday (15 June 2022) morning, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Traffic Wardens deployed in the Eastern Region of the City, clubbed in enough money, to enable them, to purchase school uniforms in the form of, pair of shoes, for the disadvantaged thirty-two (32) learners.
A few weeks ago, while performing point duties in Tsakane area, busy allowing the traffic to flow freely while assisting schoolchildren to cross the road safely, saw (four/five) needy-looking schoolchildren, who are between the ages of 7 and 14 walking past on their way to school. The members felt so touched by their sight that, they immediately decided to come to their aid.
Immediately after completion of the point duty, Officers proceeded to the Mangosuthu Primary school and the teacher was approached about the situation. The EMPD Traffic Wardens were shocked to hear that, 32 schoolchildren, who are currently in different grades, were without proper school uniforms, especially shoes, during this winter season. Thirty- two (32) pairs of school shoes were purchased, parents of needy children were invited and the school. The principal with the teacher organized all the 32 learners in need and they handed over, the school shoes, in front of their parents.
The invited parents could not hold back tears. They thanked the EMPD Traffic Wardens, who are behind the initiative and gesture. The children were overjoyed and all smiles, with the principal, excited and expressed her/his appreciation, to the Metro Police for the pleasing generosity.
