Executive Mayor celebrates the class of 2023

The matric class of 2023 did really well, making history with a super-high 82.9% pass rate across the country. But, in Gauteng and the City of Ekurhuleni, we didn’t do as well as some other places that got top honours.

Big ups to the learners, teachers, and everyone involved for putting our region in the spotlight. Even though this class faced some tough times, especially recovering from the COVID-19 aftermath, they still made us proud. These results are even more special because they show how tough they are. Shoutout to all of you!

Even though Ekurhuleni didn’t have any district in the top 10 nationally, unlike last year, we’re not failures. The pass rate of over 82% shows that we still have young people who work hard.

To those who didn’t do as well, keep pushing and working towards success and making your lives better.

Remember, there’s always another chance. This is especially true when you need to pick yourself up and move forward, re-energized and determined to do even better than before.

To the class of 2024, you’ve got the challenge of doing even better than those who came before you. Take Ekurhuleni to the top where it belongs. Don’t let any challenges stop you from being your best.

The City believes in you and wishes you the best of luck in everything you do.
