Fake doc caught seeking bribe at Bara

The Gauteng Department of Health (GDoH) wants to warn everyone not to trust fake healthcare workers who try to get money from people before they give any help.
This warning comes after someone pretending to be a doctor got caught at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital (CHBAH) on Sunday night. They asked an escort to pay R700 before they would help a patient.
The escort got suspicious when the fake doctor, wearing green scrubs with the name Dr Zulu on them, told her to meet at the gate to pay. The escort told the security guards, who caught the fake doctor at the gate.
When the security and hospital staff asked for her Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) registration number and a persal number, the fake doctor couldn’t provide them.
The CHBAH team reported the incident to the police at Diepkloof police station. The fake doctor spent a night in jail and was supposed to go to court this afternoon.
The GDoH wants to remind everyone to be careful and not fall for scams like this. Real healthcare workers at hospitals won’t ask for money directly. If there are any fees to pay, it will be done at the hospital’s administration office, and they’ll give you an invoice to show exactly what you’re paying for.
