The Nigel police arrested 4 suspects in connection with a business Robbery in the early hours of 03 February 2021.
The police had responded to a burglar alarm at Harris Bakery at Cnr Eefees and Northern road in the Nigel CBD. On arrival they found 4 Bangladeshi nationals who live in the room in the same vicinity.According to the 4 males, they were sleeping at about 01:30 when they heard a breaking sound followed by the alarm. Then suddenly a male came in and pointed them with a Firearm and was joined by 3 others with balaclavas. They ordered them to lie down and tied their hands and legs with shoe laces.
The suspects demanded cash and then ransacked the shop and made off with cigarettes, stock and cash valued at more than R50 000. The police immediately went on a lookout in the area. The not so clever suspects made a wrong turn and drove towards the police who had blocked the road.
Upon searching the vehicle the police recovered all cigarettes and other stock and cash suspected to have been stolen during the robbery. In total five suspects were arrested and were all charged with business Robbery.
