The Windmill Park Stars FC hosted an awesome tournament for U13/U15 players over two days, the 29th of April and the 1st of May 2023.
The Freedom Day Build It Tournament 2023, is aimed at giving the kids something fun to do and to keep them out of trouble.
Lots of youngsters in and around Ekurhuleni showed up to compete for the title.
The tournament was a Top 8 knockout, with the first day being elimination, and the second day having the semis and finals.
Royal Stars Daveyton won the U13 division, and Windmill Park Stars took home the U15 championship.
“Big shoutout to Rondebult Build it and the entire Build it for sponsoring the event and making it all possible! This was the second year they’ve sponsored us,” indicated Simphiwe Mbina the coach.
He added that they hope they’ll keep it up for years to come.
Winners of the tournament bagged themselves gold medals, trophies, and soccer kits, then the player of the tournament won a trophy.
Speaking to the Windmill Park Stars, Thatego Ledwaba who carried the title ‘player of the tournament for U15’, mentioned that he is happy and this to him means more hard work for him to continue to grow.
Coach for Daveyton Royal Stats Fc, Tshepo Mchunu, normally referred to as ‘coach Rooi’ said they are happy to take the title home (Daveyton).
“First we would like to thank Mthimkhulu the coach and club owner of x12 FC, for inviting us to this build it tournament, and built it for this wonderful initiative.”
“We feel very happy for a win and it means a lot to us as a club, because we really needed a team kit because we are running a none profit organization,” expressed Mchunu.
