‘Given the Giver’ foundation donated 175 school shoes to pupils in Winnie Mandela primary school on March 5, 2021 in Tembisa.
The school shoes donation drive was established last in January by the ‘Given the Giver’ foundation, and the founder (Given Muhlarhi) shared, saying: “Since we are planning to build a University in Ekurhuleni, it’s important to support and boost the beneficiaries of that University, because if you are not supporting or empowering them now who will attend that University that will be built.
“However we understand that most students in this primary school come from poor backgrounds but through this initiative we are trying to redeem their confidence, so that they come to school dignified; however with these school shoes we trying to bridge the social economic gap among students,” Muhlarhi alluded.
One of the students who received a pair of school shoes in the primary school, Lerato Mabidikama(14) joyfully expressed herself, stating that, “I’m overwhelmed with excitement today because I have received a pair of school shoes, I will confidently come to school now,” she delightfully uttered.
The HOD/teacher (ST Molokomme) of the school couldn’t hold back her inner happiness, stating that, “We are happy beyond measure, we immensely appreciate the gesture because these shoes will boost our students’ confidence; most of our students come from poor backgrounds, so these shoes will create a huge difference in their academic path,” she gladly shared.
During the process of the donation arrangement, Given Muhlarhi elaborated further saying: “Last year we donated to five schools, but this is the first school that we are donating to this year, there’s many more schools that we will cover this year, in may I will be donating shoes to a school located in Limpopo, which is Khujwana primary school,” he concluded.
Nevertheless teachers and students at Winnie Mandela primary school jubilantly welcomed the gesture.
