Heritage celebrated at Imbizo Shisanyama

Thembisa mall partnered with Imbizo shisanyama to celebrate heritage day. The day was celebrated in style, class and dignity.

People came in numbers and the Mall of Thembisa’s centre manager said the event was organised by the management team of the shopping mall. All the employers from all the shops that are based in the mall were wearing their traditional attires.

There was ample space reserved for creatives, however, most of them seized the opportunity to display their artwork: they brought their accessories which are made out of beads and handmade sculptures. It was a fun-filled event.

Umfana ka Ngcono said that the event was preferably initiated to celebrate heritage day as it is widely known that South Africa is a rainbow nation country with diverse cultures. He elaborated further saying that the event also gave a lot of people a chance to witness different cultural clothes and to know their roots as people.

Maskandi musicians performed greatly for the attendees as they celebrated the authentic African lifestyle and its cuisine.

The AmaPedi group that kept entertaining the crowd wore mesmerizing Sepedi traditional attires.

“In our Sepedi tradition our women’s attire is called ‘Hele’ and the inner fabric which is tied on our waist is called ‘Matsheka’ the cloth which we tied on the top part of our dress which complements our whole attire is called ‘moruka’. Our turbans are also an essential part of our Sepedi traditional attire.

The event went very well and everyone who attended it was grateful to be part of the fun-filled event which was hosted by Tembisa mall and Imbizo shisanyama.
