Xolani Nkosi is an actor who has had roles in local telenovelas like ‘Intersexions’, ‘Rhythm City’, and ‘Isidingo’.
Xolani’s devotion to acting began while he was still in pre-school. While in pre-school, he witnessed a lot of children performing ‘acting skits’ on stage and found his acting passion within the walls of his pre-school. Nkosi believes that some people have natural talents for acting and others do not have the talent, and with that being said it is vital to practice so one can discover deeper hidden acting techniques within one’s self.
The first time Xolani was on television was when he was an extra; during their lunch breaks, Xolani and his schoolmates would walk to Davey high school to be extras on ‘Yizo Yizo’ (a television series that aired from 1999 to 2004). His first significant acting role was in ‘Intersexions’ which was produced by Quizzical Pictures. “Whenever I receive a negative reaction to a performance I feel disappointed, but I have the mindset for improvement and I will fix my performance errors by giving it my best,” Xolani elucidated.
To get a profound understanding of the character he is supposed to play, Xolani reads his script for comprehension so he can grasp the personality of the character. The latter is so that he can understand the importance of his character and the role he needs to play. “When I need to rehearse a scene and the actors I need to interact with are not available, I record the whole dialogue onto my phone so I can listen and run the lines on my own,” Xolani uttered.
There are several actors Xolani tries to emulate due to the characters they embody in films “but Jamie Foxx is one of my favorites internationally.” Nkosi added. Xolani is always searching for new opportunities so he can add to his many acting achievements.
