A 31-year-old mother, Palesa (Busta) Mbukwana from Kwa-Thema in Ekurhuleni and also an employee of the Ekurhuleni municipality continues to break barriers in the netball fraternity. She started playing netball at a very young age, but only started taking the sport seriously in 2004, when she was in Grade9, fortunately she was selected to represent Eastern Gauteng now famously known as Ekurhuleni and during the national netball championships she was then selected to play for the South African school under-17 netball team.Later In 2011 she was selected to play for Gauteng Black Diamond in the national league, the league didn’t continue the following year due to unforseen circumstances and she then resorted to play at club Level for a team in Kwa Thema.
However in 2014 she went for trials for the Sunbirds to play in the Brutal fruit netball league, now known as Telkom netball national league and she was then selected to be part of the team up until now.The netball player shared that: “I am currently the only top player awarded to be the player of the match in the league, despite that, last year I didn’t play; I’m at Buo Bubble in Bloemfontein where I’m currently playing in the national league until the end of October.“I am very much humbled and thankful to God for the talent he has given me; I am doing my best to make myself proud, my son, my family, my city (Ekurhuleni) and everyone who is supporting me. I live by the slogan that ‘what is once well done is done forever’, hence I always do my best to do well when I’m on the netball court,” She concluded
