The man behind the Blck Nation brand, Siphesihle Nkosi from Kwa-Thema donated school bags to his former school.
He is a young designer and an entrepreneur who started his brand on the 15th of September 2020 with only four hats.
The name Blck Nation was extracted from a context that emphasized how powerful black people are and by the way Nkosi also wanted to encourage young black children by demonstrating that they can do whatever they put their mind to. Nkosi mentioned to Ekurhuleni News, “As black people we need to be united. I never went to school for this but I taught myself through the internet, i researched on how to start a brand and so forth. That’s how I learned how to start my brand.”
Nkosi reiterated to the local newspaper, saying, “What made me to give back to my former school is that I know the struggle as I have struggled when I was still a learner there, so I do not want to see learners struggling the way I did. Although I do not have much but I saw the need to go back to my roots, where I come from and to the people who made me who I am. I am very much aware that my brand has not achieved what I intended, but I should not wait until I make a lot of money, but with the little that I have, I can make a difference.”
Nkosi managed to pull through with the campaign as he involved his community members on his project because it was close to his heart. Community members contributed money in order for the project to materialise. For this, Nkosi extends his gratitude endlessly to the community at large as they believed in him and wanted this to be a success.
What Nkosi plans in the near future, is to stimulate growth in his brand and his also keen to expand it nationwide and worldwide. By that it will put Africa on the map. In years to come Nkosi aims to achieve a lot in order to become the leading entrepreneur originating from the Township ( Ekasi) whilst creating employment and empowering his own people.
