On Sunday 27 November 2022 at about 21h30, the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) Bronberg Precinct officers, arrested an African male suspect, for possession of suspected stolen goods.
The EMPD officers on high alert within Dersley Park in the Springs area, following complaints of house robberies and break-ins, noticed suspicious movement at a certain house, on Zircon Avenue and proceeded to search the premises. The officers found a 48-year-old male, who had a door frame in his possession. The suspect was asked about the door frame and there was no clear explanation.
A house owner who was not around was traced and he confirmed that the person inside his premises, who is in possession of the door frame worth R500, is unknown to him. The victim, who is in possession of a case number from Springs police station, further explained that he had become a target because previously, thieves stole copper pipes and electrical wiring material worth R10 000 from the same premises.
The handcuffed suspect facing charges of ‘possession of suspected stolen item’, was marched to Springs police station and he is expected, to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
