On May 22, 2021, Mr and Miss East Rand finalists gathered at the Boksburg Civic Centre to compete for the crown. It was successful because the day was filled with excitement, elegance and other contestants faces were covered with tears of joy.
The event had people from the East Rand attending it, showing love as well as their support. The theme for the day was “All black” while female contestants dazzled in their dresses. On the other hand, male contestants did not disappoint as they looked fine in their suits. The event began at 10 a.m. and ended until late. The event was indeed a success as there was food and drinks served.
Nonhlanhla Ndlozi, a grade 6 (12-year-old) learner at Vila Lisa Primary School took the Miss East Rand Junior title, Faye Francke walked away with the Miss Teen East Rand title, Tim Munguambe went home with the Mr. East Rand title and last but not least, Bontle Moloi managed to grasp the Miss East Rand title.
“This event was a success. We are so happy that it united the youth of Ekurhuleni and brought hope to the hopeless. Dreams were accomplished and our goal was accomplished. It was not easy putting together an event like this but our work was amazing. Our purpose was to make everything go well so that everyone could be happy and we did just that. Our winners are happy and they all deserved these titles. We hope to do the same in the following years,” added Nonhlanhla Dalalisa, the founder of Mr. & Miss East Rand Youth Organisation.
A supporter and a friend of a contestant could not stop praising the event. “I came to support a friend and because I’m matriculating this year, I couldn’t enter as I didn’t want anything to disturb me from my studies. However, I’m determined to enter the competition next year because modelling and beauty pageants have always been my thing. Also, the organisers did an exceptional job organising this event. It was well organised and it is definitely worth every penny,” uttered Maipelo Mokoena.
