Bylaw violators are pursued by EMPD

On Friday 10 February 2023 in the Germiston area, between 09:30 and 12:00, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Germiston South Precinct Officers, conducted an operation and confiscated goods from By-law transgressing vendors on Knox, Meyer, Victoria and Park street.

The purpose of the operation was to follow up on written notices issued previously by EMPD officers. The operation led to Officers confiscating tyres displayed illegally on sidewalks, perishable goods and demolishing illegal infrastructure.

During the operation, officers came across hawkers trading with an open fire on the sidewalks, and immediately extinguished the fire and confiscated the braai stands. The EMPD advises entrepreneurs, to visit their nearest Customer Care Centre, to obtain more information, on how to operate their businesses in a legal manner.
