CITY HOSTS DIALOGUE TO HELP YOUTH CHANGE THE WORLD

The City of Ekurhuleni hosted library patrons at the Germiston Library for dialogue to share insight on the values for which Nelson Mandela was known. The purpose of the dialogue was to get more people to embrace selflessness, peace, forgiveness, compassion and dignity, among others, in honour of Nelson Mandela. The event was part of the month-long programme to celebrate Mandela Month.

Among the speakers was a published author, Nelson Molapo, who wrote the book: Raising Champions: Building the Nation One Child. Speaking to the attendees, Molapo said, “Learn to be an eagle, fly high, dream big, never give up, have a strong vision and never run away from your problems.”

Molly Mbagula (68), an avid library patron at Germiston library, encouraged the city’s future leaders not to be impatient and seek quick success. But instead, embrace every moment in life and the lessons that come with growing.

Whilst the event occurred at the Germiston library, library cadets from various libraries across the city also participated in the dialogue. The cadets shared how they are making a difference at their respective libraries.
