COACHING MAESTRO HONORED

“I still recall how we received our first soccer jerseys (he laughed) as a team, we threshed a soccer team 13-0 in Basothong section (Vosloorus) and they displayed a gesture of respect by giving us their soccer jerseys, I thereafter sought a sponsorship in 1996 or 1997 (I don’t remember clearly), thereafter I sold some of my players to other teams and I moulded so many players in Vosloorus,” He delightfully alluded.A WTT ANCYL coordinator of George Makhubela ward 45, Papi Nkoane, who also spearheaded the function explained why he chose to honour the legendary coach, saying: As a young person who is politically active, I was brought up by my grandmother ,Manni Nkoane , so when I arrived in Vosloorus in1998 I found the likes of Bra Zakes who kept us away from doing wrong things by keeping us actively participating in soccer, so when I occupied the position of being a WTT ANC Youth League coordinator, I recalled that we have a lot of people who are helping the youth; they use their precious time to assist young people in the community and Bra Zakes has done that for me, so it was my way of thanking him for playing a crucial role in shaping me and others to be what we are today,” Nkoane shared.A former soccer player Jabu Mahlangu shared words of encouragement stating that, “I would like to thank the ward 45 ANC George Makhubela branch for inviting me, soccer has changed my life, if you have a son who is passionate about soccer please support him as parent or guardian, because i strongly believe that soccer can build a person’s character and offer him more in life,” Mahlangu expressed
