Daveyton community gets a tarred street

City of Ekurhuleni Transport Planning MMC Cllr Andile Mngwevu has urged residents to
protect their road infrastructure against vandalism, especially during demonstrations.
Mngwevu was speaking during the handover of Leruarua Street in Daveyton which was constructed to the tune of R3 million on Thursday, 24 August.
“As we hand over this new street and other infrastructure across the city, we call upon our communities to protect this infrastructure and other public facilities against vandalism and theft. They must also assist in maintaining and cleaning it so that the lifespan is prolonged,” he said.
Local residents expressed their gratitude to the city for the intervention but urged Ekurhuleni to provide speed-calming measures to prevent motorists from speeding.
Rose Sithole said: “Dangerous driving spoils the beautiful work done for our community. People drive at a high speed in a residential area, putting our lives in danger. We urgently need speed humps.”
Ten local persons were employed during the construction of the road.
